April 4, 6, & 8, 2022 (3 full days, location TBD)
Fee: sliding scale

Have you been asked to deliver training and aren’t sure where to begin? This workshop is an opportunity to experiment with different ways of instructing and make mistakes with a supportive group of peers and facilitators before diving into the real thing.

By the end of the Instructional Skills Lab, participants will:
  1. Identify strategies that foster welcoming learning environments
  2. Create specific and meaningful learning outcomes and lesson plans
  3. Practice diverse instructional activities that support engagement and learning
  4. Demonstrate strategies to assess participant learning

Are you curious about how to create engaging in-person workshops? In this interactive three-day training, participants will explore and apply effective teaching strategies for adult learners. This workshop is designed for people who are experts in their field, but have little to no training as adult educators.

Format: On day one, learners will explore theory and strategies for live instruction. On days 2 and 3, each participant will deliver and receive feedback on a 10-minute mini-lesson.

Note: This 3-day workshop is Part 3 of the AURORA Certificate in Brain-Based Instruction

CERTIFICATE IN BRAIN-BASED INSTRUCTION

Over the years, people have often asked us how they can create great workshops like the ones we deliver. Now we've created a program to help them design their own awesome workshops! Are YOU an expert in your field who wants to teach others what you know? We'll show you how to build effective, memorable classes using evidence-based techniques.

We've bundled three of our workshops to create the Certificate in Brain-Based Instruction. The certificate represents 28+ hours of professional development. This spring, we are offering all three workshops, spreading out the learning experience over 3 months:
⠀
Part 1: Turning Setbacks Into Success (3 hours online) - February 16
Part 2: Communication Styles for Collaboration (3 hours online) - March 2
Part 3: Instructional Skills Lab (21.5+ hours in person) - April 4-8

Past participation in any of these workshop will also count toward the certificate. We encourage you to take them again if it has been more than a year.
